Costa Rica Car Rental Insurance Guide
C.D.W. Insurance
This is the basic insurance offered by our company, it’s mandatory. This insurance covers collision, damage, vehicle turns. In this case the maximum amount of financial responsibility will be the deductible according to car’s category.
When you acquired the CDW Insurance it will cover the third parties responsibility, our company covers a 100% so it don’t apply to the third parties deductible.
The daily amount of coverage depends on the car category.
1. This type of insurance does not cover damage to hub caps, tire rings, accessories, stereo, tools, etc. therefore the customer agrees to be responsible for these items. Also, it does not apply when damages are caused to vehicle as consequence of bad state of public or private roads or produced by obstacles (whatever they be) in land which may cause damage to the underside of vehicle or by negligence.
2. If during rental, the vehicle is damaged by the customer and it is used in any event or competitions, or in rivers, beaches, estuaries or seas, or it is driven in violation of the transit laws and regulations.
3. Insurance does not cover vehicle towing and rescue in the event of accident.
Maximum coverage
The maximum coverage exonerates the customer from the deductible in the event of accident, damages or vehicle turns.
This type of coverage applies to windshield and car windows, except for the Jeep Wrangler category.
General information:
The renter agrees to:
Not to drive under the influence of alcohol or drugs.
Take care of the vehicle, checking the gas and oil level and overall vehicle status.
Respect transit laws and regulations imposed by competent authorities.
Not to drive the vehicle outside the country boundaries.
Carry the driver´s license to date, personal I.D., vehicle documents and copy of the rental agreement.
Pay fines imposed by the competent authorities due to violation of the law. Any type of insurance will not apply when vehicle is driven by non authorized drivers.
In the event of accident, the customer must wait for the police officer to make the respective police ticket and present it in our offices. in case of non accessibility of the place, and for our insurance to be effective, the user should bring a declaration from the nearest police station, confirming the version of the incident. If this document is not presented, the insurance application will not proceed.
Insurance Mandatory Policy:
All of our vehicles have its respective insurance mandatory policy and it applies to both types of insurance.
Vehicles:
• Civilian liability for injury or death:
¢ 40 millions For pedestrians or individuals inside other vehicle.
¢100 millions For accident.
• Liability for third parties’ property injury:
¢ 10 millions Houses, private property, vehicles. |
