The Veragua Rainforest Adventure Park is a Costa Rican owned company that is involved in the passionate conservation and research of the rain forest area less than one hour from the port city of Limon. Part research facility and adventure park, Veragua offers a hands on opportunity for visitors to experience the beauty of this often unvisited part of Costa Rica.
Working with the INBio’s research fellows to categorize and protect the biodiversity of Costa Rica’s many plants and insects, visitors to Veragua are allowed to interact and watch the scientists as they carry on their important work.
There are many activities at Veragua to keep visitors busy during their day here- an amazing Aerial Tram, a Frog and Reptile Habitat, a Butterfly Garden, Insectarium, miles of Rainforest trails, the magnificent Puma Waterfall and a world famous Biological Research Facility. All of these are located on a 4000 acre preserve of 100% Rainforest bordered by the La Amistad International Park. The perfect one day adventure for cruise ship visitors looking to experience as much of Costa Rica as they can in a limited amount of time, as well as visitors staying on Costa Rica’s amazing Caribbean coast!
The moderate climate in this part of Costa Rica make a visit to Veragua Adventure Park a viable tour option year round. Beautiful paths and trails wind past fresh water springs, macadamia and coffee plantations and beautiful botanical gardens. The Costa Flores part of the park is one of the world’s largest tropical flower farms where over 500 varieties of tropical flowers are grown on over 300 acres and sent to florist all over Europe and North America. The farm offers visitors a chance to participate in traditional Costa Rican farming activities including the traditional “trapiche”.
The goal of the Veragua Rainforest Adventure Park and Research facility is to provide an example to this region of Costa Rica- to show that conservation and scientific research can be as rewarding as the traditional hunting and lumber industry. Bringing sustainable development opportunities to the surrounding communities is part of the everyday work that is being done here. The passionate belief in conservation and the desire to provide a unique adventure and nature experience for visitors on the Caribbean coast of Costa Rica is the mission of this award-winning project.
