Ocotal Beach Papagayo

Ocotal Beach is located in the Province of Guanacaste, at the entrance of the beautiful Gulf of Papagayo. It is heaven on Earth for lovers of the sea, and is wonderful for swimming, whale watching, snorkeling, and scuba diving. Its calm emerald green waters and volcanic black sand are reminiscent of a lost little paradise, under the ever-present tropical sun of Guanacaste. This is one of the most precious Beaches of Costa Rica, with howler monkeys, iguanas, agoutis and an array of tropical birds are easily spotted. Out in the bay are moored the yachts and fishing boats of the Ocotal Beach Resort, adding a little flair to this pristine and serene little beach.

What To Do In Ocotal

Ocotal Beach is actually a small beach located within the exclusive gated community of Ocotal Beach Resort. There is a lively sports bar and a good restaurant right on the beach that is used as a meeting spot where locals and foreigners alike gather for drinks, food and socializing. Ocotal itself consists mainly of private villas and homes; it is definitely geared towards the protection of the environment and eco-tourism. There are many activities and Tours to do around this area. It is custom for the residents to take long strolls on the beach, and it fabulous for swimming and snorkeling as well. Sportfishing is certainly one of the favorite occupations of this area and there are even fishing charters in Ocotal! For the more adventurous kind, a trip to the Catalina Island provides excellent diving and is the best place to see the giant Manta Ray. There are a couple of great golf courses, one at the Papagayo Country Club, in the town of Sardinal, and another in the Hacienda Pinilla.
