While a valid U.S. passport is a requirement to enter Nicaragua, you do not need any special visas of any kind. The modern and newly renovated International Airport is located in Nicaragua’s capital city of Managua. A wide variety of airlines such as Continental, Delta and American Airlines have daily flights to Managua and the airport serves as a hub for many destinations in the Caribbean. We generally recommend flying into Costa Rica’s northern airport in Liberia to combine a visit to both countries on your next vacation to Central America. The Liberia International Airport is located just an hour south of the border and is close to many exciting destinations in both Costa Rica and Nicaragua. Several domestic airlines such as Grupo Taca, Copa Airlines and Aerocaribbean have flights daily to various destinations throughout Nicaragua. Private transportation in a modern air conditioned van with a bilingual driver can be arranged to help you get to your destination comfortably and safely.
