Daniel Oduber International Airport

International flights began arriving regularly in Liberia at the Daniel Oduber Quiros International Airport (Liberia International) in December 1st, 2002. The airport was named after the president of Costa Rica from 1974 to 1978. The airport has made travel much easier for travelers visiting the beautiful beaches of the Pacific north west region of Costa Rica by taking an nearly five hour drive from San Jose off of their trip time.

Nearly fifty international flights a week are currently landing at LIR. The airport still remains relatively small, but is poised for growth. A renovation is currently planned for in the next couple of years and there is much space allocated to add gates and other necessary services. The city of Liberia is close by and taxis and other forms of transportation are readily available.

Why Liberia Airport?

Not only can visitors to Costa Rica now fly directly into Liberia, there are also a number of domestic flights that fly into the airport daily from all over the country. This alleviates many hours of travel for those looking to see as much of the country as possible with limited time available. The Daniel Oduber Quiros International Airport is changing the face of tourism in the northern Pacific part of Costa Rica!
