History, Food and Nature combined

Providing a perfect balance between luxury and adventure, the Rio Indio Adventure Lodge is an Ecological and Sport Fishing Resort located just minutes north of the Costa Rican border in Nicaragua. The location of the Lodge also makes it a complete culinary mélange, with local dishes including traditional Costa Rican, Nicaraguan and Caribbean delicacies. The history of the area is fascinating. From tales of buccaneers and pirates, such as Captain Morgan and the ancient Rama-Indians, you can really explore the area and discover the lagoon where Morgan hid whilst planning his invasions. Nearby, Old Greytown was the centre of the gold rush.

Rio-Indio Maiz Biological Reserve

The Rio Indio Adventure Lodge takes its name from the virtually unexplored Rio Indio-Maiz Biological Reserve in southeastern Nicaragua. Spanning 640,000 acres, the reserve is the biggest lowland tropical rainforest north of the Amazon, composed of wetlands, coastal areas, forests, highlands and swamps. It is filled with virgin jungles and wildlife, not to mention some of the best fishing opportunities in the world. Most of the Park is difficult to explore alone, which is why designer of the Rio Indio Adventure Lodge have now made it easier to discover this lost paradise.

Four Star Luxury at Rio Indio Adventure Lodge

With elevated walkways and cabins built on stilts, the Rio Indio Adventure Lodge feels like an extension of its lush, natural surroundings but with the luxury and amenities of the four star hotel that it is. Designed in keeping with its location, wind direction, the arc of the sun and even shade taken into consideration in the design process. The hotel boasts twenty-seven spacious, luxury suites with king or queen beds, beautifully tiled bathrooms and a large screened-in porch. The entire hotel is made from local hard woods for a unique quality finish. The property even boasts an infinity pool set in perfectly manicured gardens.

Rio Indio Adventure Lodge A Fisherman’s Paradise

For those looking for an adventure holiday in Costa Rica, there are many things to do in around the Lodge including bird watching, fishing, kayaking and hiking. The hotel actually provides guided tours for guests to experience the full experience of the area and its wildlife. For avid fisherman, the best time to come is between September and May, due to the water levels and the weather. Rio Indio Adventure boasts its own marina and equipment, ideal for fishing enthusiasts. However, it is still considered a year-round destination for fishing and indeed all other activities.
