Tortuguero is in Costa Rica's northern Caribbean zone, a wild and lush area of canals, jungle and incredible wildlife. It is also the most important nesting site in the entire Western half of the Caribbean for the endangered green sea turtle. The turtle season begins around mid July and ends in October, although turtles can be seen year round. Guided night walks are offered to search for green sea turtles as they come by the hundreds to lay their eggs. The Laguna
Lodge has an exclusive location on a narrow strip of land between the
sea on one side and the Tortuguero-Lagoon on the other. An excellent
place from which to explore the canals, town and beaches. |
