Guanamar hotel sits over a hill in Carrillo Bay, one of Costa Rica's nicest and cleanest beaches. Carrillo has its palm lined beach with plenty of coconut tree trunks and shade to hang hammocks while having a picnic. Calm waters from this Nicoya Peninsula bay reach a broad and peaceful beach to cool off its sands beneath the hot sun. Carrillo is an old and small port town that's been able to retain the country's culture and warm flavor.
Guanamar Hotel, in business since 1985, is among the first resort hotels in Nicoya Costa Rica. This coastal hill top hotel has immense panoramic ocean views off the eastern crest of Carrillo Bay and the Pacific. Guests will enjoy their Guanamar hotel staff, they're good, helpful and out of the way unless help is needed. The open restaurant and bar are outside and under the shade of palm thatched roofs that oversee the scenic pool area. Guanamar rooms are cozy and simple but not for watching TV; really lovely views from their balcony are on display every evening.
Tours to see turtle nesting, horseback riding, snorkeling and dolphin watching can be arranged for Carrillo Beach. There's a scenic riparian tour down the Ora River in a kayak full wildlife spotting, bird watching and fresh air. Bay waters at Carrillo Beach are calm and ideal for safe swimming, snorkeling, watersports and sports fishing. Camaronal Wildlife Reserve close by is not a well known surfing spot, its isolated left hand break is held a local secret. Samara, a beach town on the other direction, is full of options for dining and going out where lots more action and people are found. Guanamar is 2 and a half hours away from Liberia Airport and 5 hours from the one in San Jose Costa Rica.
