This privileged location means that the lodge is surrounded by lush greenery and exotic gardens and wildlife. It was built with a design that adds to the local area natural conservation. It is also just a few steps from the easy going Caribbean town of Cahuita, just 17km from the famous Puerto Viejo and perfect for those wanting a quiet beach holiday.

A Hit with Reviewers

The Ciudad Perdida Ecolodge is one of the prettiest and most authentic places to stay in Cahuita for vacations on the Caribbean coast of Costa Rica. A hit with reviewers and previous guests, it offers visitors beautifully manicured, exotic gardens filled with tropical plants. The hotel was designed to blend in with the natural surroundings and so each bungalow is beautifully carved from wood and painted to match all of the pretty houses along the coastline. The rooms are also far apart to provide privacy and space for guests. Ciudad Perdida also offers breakfast in a pretty area and is served by friendly staff. It is included in the price for double occupancy.

Privacy for All

There are three main types of room on offer at Ciudad Perdida Ecolodge in Cahuita. Firstly, a standard room in the hotel is not your average hotel room. They are actually bungalows containing two double beds, a bathroom, a refrigerator, a safe, air conditioning and a coffee machine. Outside you will find a private parking space and garden with a terrace with hammocks. Moving up, you can get houses with bigger living areas and more facilities such as a kitchenette area and dining tables, including all pots, pans, plates and cutlery. Tap water is potable as it is supplied from the AyA. Try and reserve the house with the Jacuzzi in the garden.

Eco-friendly

Ciudad Perdida is part of a much bigger initiative in the area. As part of a Cahuita Tours program, it began as an Ecolodge Design Proposal at the University of Costa Rica’s ecotourism course. Caribbean architecture was the main focus, with special attention paid to the source of the wood to build the bungalows to avoid contributing to rainforest destruction in Costa Rica. The bungalows are all built in a Victorian English design, something very typical of the Caribbean, and are very pretty to look at. This design not only helps the environment, but it also makes your stay a much more pleasant and conscientious one. Enjoy!
