Drake Bay

Drake Bay is located on the Northern end of the Osa Peninsula, in the province of Puntarenas. While it is a popular destination, it is quite inaccessible and is probably the most difficult place to reach in Costa Rica. Its name, often a topic of conversation, comes from the one who discovered it in 1579, Sir Francis Drake. This is a very small community where nothing much happens but it is recognized to be set in one of the most beautiful region of the world! Corvado and Osa undeniably have the most beautiful Beaches of Costa Rica. To reach Drake, as it is often called, you need to take a small boat trip.

Osa Peninsula and Corcovado National Park

The Osa Peninsula and the Corcovado National Park form what is known as the most treasured region of Costa Rica with its incredibly intense biological diversity. This area has more concentration of flora and fauna than anywhere else in Costa Rica and is one of the worlds wonder; because it used to be an island, many species developed independently thus making them today unique. Corcovado is the tallest rainforest of the world and hides many endangered species of animals, and plants. It is a real treat to be able to visit this region, a wonder of the South Pacific Coast of Costa Rica.

There are tons of Tours and activities to do in this magnificent region. Its idealistic landscape looks like it jumped out of a brochure. This is where you can swim alongside dolphins and go on a whale-watching trip. Horseback riding, sports fishing, and mesmerizing hiking are all on the agenda. While the forest and beaches of the Corcovado National Park offer unlimited awe, the marine life is no less fascinating; snorkeling and scuba diving are on high demand and you will experience the joy of swimming amongst beautiful colorful fish. Kayaking and canoeing can also be arranged upon request. Because of its remote location, the communication in Drake is very limited and you must take this into account; signal for cellular phones is often low and many people got used to communicate via radiophones or shortwave radios.

You will take strolls along the most beautiful Beaches of Costa Rica, and amongst the highest density of wildlife. It only has a limited choice of the most picturesque Hotels of the South Pacific Coast and lodges, most of which often run on solar-powered generators, thus they are eco-lodges. They offer all-inclusive packages and a pick up services by boat from one of the neighboring towns. They are all magnificently located and offer the best views over the ocean, surrounded by surreal vegetation and wild animals and brightly colored birds.
