Well, Bahia del Sol was great, and they gave us a free upgrade to a very nice 2 bedroom suite, which we really enjoyed. Great beach, good restaurant, good service, beautiful garden, altogether nice.
The hotel you booked for us: Poco a Poco, was very nice. Good reception, neat layout, nice workout room, very good restaurant, although the service seemed "detached" or "aloof" there, as if they didn't really care too much one way or the other. Very nice room, clean, modern.
ONE problem though- we couldn't sleep! Next door to our room is a farm type property, with 2 little dogs, who furiously attacked or chased or pursued some perceived terror every 15 minutes from about 1 am to 4 am. The barking was ridiculous. The owner of Poco a Poco, IF he ever wants any repeat business, MUST buy out that property next to him so as to control that noise, or pay off the dog owners, or at least close out the 3 rooms that are on the lower level. Anyway, I am sure that the owner will say, "nothing I can do about that" but I disagree. And, I wouldn't stay there again because of it. The top priority, after all, is a good, safe, affordable SLEEP! It was a shame though, because we enjoyed everything else about it.
Thanks again, and we would recommend your services to anyone going to Costa Rica.
(We also, on our own, had booked Tabacon Resort, which was great.(fantastic restaurant, although they had booked a very large, loud party on one of our evenings there, and our romantic dinner was a joke). And Lost Iguana, which also was great, especially for birdwatchers.(restaurant at Lost Iguana is average only.). Also, we would highly recommend Lagarta Lodge at Playa Pelada, the nicest beach we saw on the Nicoya. Very good restaurant.
Pura Vida.
