Planning a family vacation to Costa Rica can be a problem even under the best of circumstances, but add in the additional factor of traveling out of the country and you have a challenge from the very beginning!

It is always difficult to balance the needs and wants of everyone in your family and make everyone happy, as well as stay within a budget that won’t break you! Luckily, it is easy to find something for everyone here in amazing Costa Rica. Keeping the kids active and busy while still finding time to relax and enjoy the beautiful scenery and beaches here can seem impossible, but it is something we deal with here at My Costa Rica everyday.

Most families find that by choosing two distinct parts of Costa Rica that they are able to meet the expectations of every member of the group. I generally recommend spending the first a couple of days in the Arenal Volcano area. Everyone will find something to love here! Exciting zip lines, relaxing volcanic hot springs and world class white water rafting are just a couple of the many tour choices that you will find in this part of Costa Rica.

There are lots of hotel options that are perfect for families and are affordable and comfortable- the Mountain Paradise, Arenal Springs and The Lost Iguana Resort are great options with rooms configurations that work well for families- letting you stay close to your kids, but also allowing you plenty of room to spread out.

After a few days at the volcano, let’s get you to the beach! Costa Rica has more choices here than you can imagine- all family friendly and with as much or as little as you want to do.
